MEDICAL PRACTICE WITH A HUMAN
FACE
Dream or reality ?
An ongoing formation
event of the European Confederation of Jesuit Alumni/ae
Program for above event in Paris, June 29 à“ July 1, 2012
During the
last world congress of Jesuit Alumni/ae Father General, Adolfo Nicolas SJ, once
again invited the alumni/ae to be men and women of depth, with and for others à“
wherever they might be.
For most of
the alumni/ae the place where they are is first and foremost defined by their
family life and their professional life. Those two environments are the main
focuses of their every day life, and for that reason this is also the place
where they really can be men and woman of depth, men and women with others and
men and women for others.
The
European Confederation of Jesuit Alumni/ae acknowledges this reality and wants
to provide alumni/ae from all over Europe with more opportunities to enable
them to fulfil their wish to be those men and women, and to stay in touch with
the spirit of the Society of Jesus which once took the responsibility of their
education.
Fully aware
of the diversity of professional backgrounds in which alumni/ae can be active,
the Confederation is launching an inaugural experiment by organising an ongoing
formation event, specially aimed at alumni/ae who are professionally active in
the medical sector.
From Friday
evening, June 29, till Sunday noon, July 1, 2012, a weekend is planned in Paris
(Centre Laennec, 12 rue d'Assas, 75006 Paris) on the topic àœMedical practice
with a human face à“ dream or reality ?à. Some 30 professionals from all over
Europe will discuss topics of practical, scientific, ethical and spiritual
interest regarding the meta-technical aspects of medical practice. The
discussions will be preceded by an introduction by a professional and/or an
academic. The scientific committee of the seminar consists of Prof. Carlo
Fronticelli (Turin), Prof. Stephan Claes (KU Leuven), Prof. Jean-Louis Misset
(Paris) and Prof. Andrea Vicini SJ (Boston College).
Although
this event is primarily aimed at alumni/ae who are professionally active in the
medical sector, it is also open to non-alumni/ae with a similar professional
background, who are interested in the topics that will be discussed and to
students in disciplines that prepare for a professional activity in the medical
sector.
For the
professionals, recognition of the event in the context of professional
obligation regarding ongoing formation, will be requested from the national
professional bodies concerned.
The
participation fee will be limited to 150 € pp, including four meals (lunch on
Saturday and Sunday and dinner on Friday
and Saturday). Hotels and travel should be booked individually. However, ten
individual rooms have been booked at the nearby Maison Adèle Picot (39 rue
Notre Dames des Champs, 75006 Paris). If you want to use one of these rooms,
please contact Eric de Langsdorff (eric.delangsdorff@orange.fr).
Other hotels in the immediate neighbourhood of the Centre Laennec are the hotel
Raspail Montparnasse (203, boulevard Raspail) or the hotel Chomel (15, rue
Chomel). More hotels can be found on www.booking.com
